The project for the Flamenca Hotel in Dubai, UAE, reinterprets the essence of the Andalusian Heritage representing the culture and history of a place through a contemporary construction.
The building evokes the atmospheres of the old Spanish traditions and brings distant landscapes up to the Emirate coast. The project is shaped considering the main architectural and cultural features of the Andalusian legacies: el patio, la cala, el tablao and, of course, el flamenco.
El patio, the typical Andalusian court with its plants, windows, white walls and water features resembles the typical Arab sahn, part of the traditional Arab architecture since the 10th century. In the Flamenca hotel the sahn, or patio, is recreated to shape private and protected shelters for the relaxation of the guests with water pools, shaded sunbathing areas, restaurants and moreover. The sea defines the horizon, the ever-present background from all points of view.
La Cala is the small typical Spanish beach with chiringuitos where visitors can relax and eat barbecued sardines on the sand looking at the sunset. The private beach for the hotel guests reproduces these atmospheres with a beach club designed as an homage to the well-known Puerto Banús in southern Spain.
Guests can enjoy at the very heart of the hotel El Tablao, the XXI Century response to traditional cabaret. A dinner eating tapas and enjoying music and live dance performances.
The hotel suites are located at the edge of the water, just like the Mediterranean fishermen houses where boats are stored or nets are prepared for the day’s catch.
And then Flamenco! The design of the façade is inspired by a flamenco dancer’s dress, it curves and it is shaped by the powerful expression of movement.
