Max and Min Competition, 2008

Van Chai floating village is located at a hideaway valley in Ha Long Bay, where the fishers have to confront the unpredictability of fishing trips, unstable living condition, lack of basic education, and regular natural hazards.

The competition brief called for a housing proposal that can accommodate the hardship of the        remote sealife and provide the citizen a decent living standard, with the criteria of Max and Min. The project intepretes the brief into missions of what need to maximize and what to minimize, regarding matters of material, living climate and economy.
Similar to the afterwards project of Back Khoa dormitory, the main inspiration came from perfect shape of circle, which represent the structural stability and fluidity.
