This project was the conversion of the historically landmarked Temple-Tifereth Israel into Case Western Reserve University’s Milton and Tamar Maltz Performing Arts Center. The Lighting Practice joined the project team to design architectural lighting for all FOH and BOH spaces as well as exterior lighting for the site and building.  TLP implemented the design concepts using 100% high color rendering white LED luminaires and a digital dimming system.  The centerpiece of the project was the conversion of the synagogue’s main sanctuary into a concert hall, including the conversion of the historic luminaires to LED sources.  TLP accented the former Synagogue’s unique exterior features using dimmable white LED sources. TLP’s project areas also included smaller performance spaces, instructional rooms, production areas and public lobbies.  TLP worked closely with the design team and contractors to provide a facility that celebrates the building’s historical architecture with the best modern technologies.
