Manhattan Apartment

This project combines two adjacent units on the fourteenth floor of the "Level Club" condominium on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

The client wanted a contemporary, open feel with clean lines and ample use of natural materials. Technical limitations such as the presence of exterior demising walls separating the two units and a programmatic requirement for ample storage space posed significant challenges. The resulting design meets and exceeds all of the expectations of the client.

A large, slot of space containing the public parts of the program (living /dining, kitchen and home entertainment center), becomes the main spatial figure surrounded by a poché of bedrooms, closets and bathrooms to maximize the use of "found" space. The clarity of the spatial figure is maintained through the use of precisely detailed and crafted white maple flooring panels on the floor, ceiling and walls; all openings are cased in anodized aluminum.
