Heard Museum

The largest gallery renovation to the Heard Museum in the last twenty years includes a new building and a renovation to an Historic Building in downtown Phoenix.

Working collaboratively with the Museum, landscape architect, and exhibit designer, the design provides a new entrance to the museum while seamlessly integrating the exhibit with the existing building architecture and new courtyard garden. Envisioned as "stones in a "river", the HOME exhibit's organizing concept is a collection of unique soft-form spaces brought together by common materials and open, flowing spaces.

Warmth and character was brought to the space by over 500 linear feet of bent poplar lath walls which serve to define the spaces. Collaborating with the curators and entire team of the Heard Museum, including a Native American advisory council, HOME was designed to emphasize Native cultures and their concepts of HOME in a fresh, contemporary setting.
