The Al Maktoum Airport City Master plan is a comprehensive urban development project in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is designed to create a new hub for the region's aviation, logistics, and commercial industries. Approved in 2014, the AED120bn ($32.67bn) expansion project is expected to make the Al Maktoum airport the world’s biggest, in terms of size and passenger capacity, by 2050.
The project covers an area of 140 square kilometers and includes the expansion of the Al Maktoum International Airport, which will eventually become the largest airport in the world, with an estimated capacity of 220 million passengers annually. The airport will also feature an extensive cargo terminal and a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) center.
In addition to the airport, the project includes the construction of a logistics and industrial district, a commercial center, and residential neighborhoods. The development aims to create a sustainable and integrated community with a focus on innovation and technology.
The Al Maktoum Airport City Master plan is part of Dubai's broader vision to become a leading global city and hub for business, tourism, and innovation. The project is expected to attract significant investment and generate economic growth for the region.
