University of Detroit Mercy School of Architecture + Community Development
Our School of Architecture & Community Development is the only NAAB accredited architecture program based in Detroit, and is internationally known for its long history of providing a social, economic and environmental justice-driven and student-centered educational approach. Our sources of pride include our expertise in public interest design and civic engagement. The School is also home to the Detroit Collaborative Design Center (DCDC), a professional practice with full-time staff supported by student employees providing design, planning, and community engagement services to the non-profit community using a “teaching-hospital” model for architects.
Detroit Mercy also offers a Master of Community Development Degree, an interdisciplinary program that involves faculty from a number of schools throughout the university as well as distinguished practitioners in the community development field.
These programs are also enriched by vibrant cooperative education and international studies programs that enhance these core academic programs.
