Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is a public research university based in Nottingham, England. Established in 1843 as the Nottingham Government School of Design, it has grown to be the sixth largest university in the UK with 35,785 students split over five different campuses in Nottingham. The university, which will soon open a new campus in London, has an annual income of £393.5 million and an expenditure of £385.5 million. NTU was formed through the amalgamation of several institutions of higher education, becoming 'Trent Polytechnic' in 1970, 'Nottingham Polytechnic' in 1988, and finally Nottingham Trent University in 1992. It has received numerous awards including the Times Higher Education 'University of the Year Award' in 2017 and the 'Modern University of the Year Award' from the Sunday Times in 2018 and 2022.
NTU's City site, located just north of Nottingham City Centre, hosts the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment. The Boots Library, the main library of the university, also supports these schools and features dedicated computing facilities and a bibliographic indexing service for manufacturing and related areas.
