Employment

Pilbrow & Partners, London, GB, Architect and Associate Partner

- Primarily, the current role includes coordinating the technical design of the EDGE London Bridge project, working directly with the contractor under a Design and Build contract. This involves coordination with the wider design team, as well as appraising information from the client monitoring team.

- The role is to ensure that different aspects of the technical design can be integrated across multiple disciplines. The main area of my expertise is around the coordination, design development and technical resolution of the facade.

- Further to this, the role involves organising and participating in regular workshops with the contractor and sub-contractor to asses the construction sequencing, buildability and interfaces between different elements of the design.
Reviewing the technical aspects, but also the effects on project programme and risk.

- This work involves responding to the client monitoring team who are currently reviewing the design information. As well as reviewing comments from the other consultants/ specialists to ensure integration with the wider design team.

- I regularly participate in the review process of samples and early stage mock-ups in preparation of further visual mock-ups and tests to assess technical performance.

- I also work extensively through the discharge of planning conditions, organising and reviewing details with the contractor as well as produce other relevant information to be considered and hopefully accepted by the local planning authorities.

- I work extensively in BIM and CAD software to ensure the coordination of digital information between the construction and design team, reviewing and appraising the information received from the sub-contractors.

- In addition to this, within the practice I organise CPD (continuing professional development) presentations with external manufacturers and suppliers within the industry.

- And finally, I work closely with the research and development team within the office to develop and streamline new workflows that extend to real-time rendering engines, virtual reality, energy modelling and carbon measuring tools.
