Suicide is a prevalent problem among the youth of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation. The lack of mental resilience among tribal youth is attributed to a lost sense of cultural identity to help them properly navigate and cope with the stressors in their lives. This project proposes a response that academically joins architecture and cultural identity to address this issue through the use of a Storytelling Pavilion and adjoining curriculum.

Architectural Focus:

  • Engagement with the Land & Natural Phenomena
  • Referencing Traditional Plateau Indian Architecture
  • Using Local Native Material
