In an effort to empower the community of Seattle’s Rainer Valley, the Grow Community is an urban plan aimed at providing economic stability and healthy living options to its residence. The plan revolves around p-patches as the urban mass is sculpted for optimal sun exposure for roof top gardens. The plan also sports two large plazas suited for farmers markets for the produce grown by the residences and a safe recreation area for the nearby school children and elderly. Each plaza is flanked by specific programs. The hardscape plaza is flanked by restaurants and commercial stores supported by the crops grown in the rooftop p-patches while the softscape plaza is surrounded by adult education or child care programs.
