Ghelamco Arena

The Ghelamco Arena is a multi-use stadium in Ghent, Belgium. It was officially opened by his royal highness king Albert on July 17, 2013,
making it the first new-built Belgian football stadium since 1974.

The seating layout in a single tier sees capacity at just under 20,000 (with VIP/corporate balconies and skyboxes atop the stands on both
sides of the pitch), but with expansion possible. However, the stadium
also houses over 30.000m² of officespaces, a supermarket, several
retailers,a public gym and four restaurants (one of which boasts 2
Michelin stars).

With optimized heating and lighting systems, the stadium is to be very energy efficient. Rainwater collection system assures the ground uses as much of its own supply as possible, limiting the need for external sources.

The stadium façade was adorned with 500,000 flexible LEDs, making it possible to project animated messages about events occurring in the stadium. The new exterior lighting has transformed the façade into a unique advertising medium that will be seen by passers-by travelling through several traffic routes.

The stadiums total budget was just over 70 million euros.
