In September 2009 the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission approved a renovation plan of McCarren Pool & Play Center that was built in 1936 and closed its doors in 1984 for 28 years. Total budget was announced as $50 Million, renovation work began in December 2009 and the pool reopened on June 28th, 2012. Mr. Gant is responsible for coordinating the mechanical, electrical and plumbing elements of the projects 38,000-square-foot facility with the contractors, the design team and DPR Capital Construction. In monitoring construction of the facilities two recreation buildings, pool, life guard house as well as the filtration plants HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection and security systems to include reviewing all work completed by MEP contractors, Mr. Gant insures that design specifications versus practical functionality, client direction and applicable codes are all maintained.
