Located on a steeply sloping urban infill site, the Clingman Avenue Lofts employ a “break” in the footprint to allow the three floors of 21 affordable units to gracefully step down a half story to create a main entrance at the street edge.  Unification of the two halves of the building is achieved with a prominent central stair that sews together the intermediate landings to “stitch” each floor level to the next. This stair is elegantly ornamented with a large metal roof that highlights its beauty. The Lofts play off of their surroundings by combining a vibrant palette of colors with an industrial sensibility.

I was not only Project Manager responsible for code review, construction document preparation, permitting, and construction administration for Clingman Lofts, I personally prepared all construction documentation, permitting document preparation, and CA administration during construction, all of which progressed remarkably smoothly.
