The project developed from the need for a new Civic structure for Uitenhage, in the form of a Municipal Law Court building with a municipal pay point facility.

The design works in conjunction with the Town Hall as well as Library of Uitenhage to enhance and define the newly renovated civic square.

The highly public building looks to create an environment which does not influence the inhabitants or visitors to the building in a negative way with: low ceilings or dark corridors. The building rather makes use of vast wells of natural lighting and a vast array of greenery, enriching the interior environment while still maintaining the civic presence needed by such a building.
