Trellis

While a graduate student, I was recruited by Jonathan Foote, a Ph.D candidat at Virginia Tech's Washington Alexandria Architecture Center to assist in the fabrication and installation of a rooftop trellis in Washington DC.

"This is an experimental, freestanding structure which offers the possibility to beautifully open up roof top spaces without the difficulty of expensive in-situ modifications and prohibitive building regulations. Conceived as a sculpture atop the building, it was designed and fabricated entirely by Urban Workshop as a kit of parts and able to be adapted and re-situated within multiple roof-top environments. It provides shade through fabric curtains and cedar shade louvers. The structure is stainless steel and sold bronze connectors with precast concrete 'feet' for ballast." - Jonathan Foote (of WAAC and Urban Workshop)
