Dynamic Fluid Manipulations | Vertical Greenhouse {Third Year}

This project is a vertical greenhouse, sited and designed in Rome, Italy. It’s located on the edge of the Tiber River near the Ponte Sisto. A hydroponic system is constructed vertically into walls which are shaped in response to the wind patterns near the river. Each wall was analyzed and then manipulated in succession  in relation to the pressure exerted on it by the wind. This reduced the forces on the wall and allowed for some control of the interior conditions.

A circulation system for harvesting the produce was generated by using walkways along the wall to re-align the center of gravities and improve the structural stability. A system was also designed for using the river water to feed the plants.
