A 16 acre brownfield redevelopment for the City of Wausau done in a design team of 4 for CDS Community Design Solutions. Main initiatives were to reconnect and integrate the site back into the fabric of the city; it was severely disconnected from the nearby downtown which had already undergone much renovation and development. The client wanted to connect this development to those that they had already implemented. This was achieved through a vehicle free promenade lined with mixed use and entertainment ammenties that terminated in a viewing pavilion suspended above the river. Existing riverwalks and recreation trails were completed and connected to further integrate the project into place. A creek was restored to its natural state and much of the shoreline was left unchanged to maintain natural wildlife habit, while at the same time increasing easy accessibility for all people to enjoy.
