A design competition that I did during the second semester of my first year of graduate school in a team of 4. Main design objectives were to minimize vehicle presence and to create a pedestrian friendly mixed use development centered around a medical complex. Design moves included moving traffic from a raised freeway to an at grade boulevard that slowed traffic. The pre-existing freeway was then converted into a green park in a similar fashion to that of the "high line" with a farmers market underneath. Recycled shipping containers were used in multiple phases to create an "industrial art/sculpture park", as well as to create flexible housing clusters.
