Horticultural Therapy Medical Center

A proposed medical center with focused on horticultural therapy that integrates agriculture, vegetation and healthcare.  This medical center will be built on the northern part of Salinas embedded with the expressway in order to facilitate easy and rapid access and to strengthen its efficiency as a trauma and emergency center. The expressway exits are redistributed in a roundabout traffic way where the building is located.  The concept is to integrate the medical center with the urban center to revitalize and improve its infrastructure.  A road axis is created from north to south crossing through the center of the town facilitating collective transportation and access to and from the medical center.

Concept:

Salina's geomorphologic condition,  geography and agricultural nature were the reasons this town was selected for this unique project.  The concept is to integrate agriculture and nature with well being and healthy status in order to revitalize and promote the town's identity as one of the agricultural centers in the Island.  Terraces and outdoor spaces are an integral part of this project and are used to frame the architectural features of the building.  These spaces will also serve as garden environments to promote horticulture therapy and sustainability.
