Robert Siegel Architects was selected to design skylights at five roof openings at the University at Albany Academic Podium roof, originally designed in 1963 by Edward Durell Stone. In the spirit of the original campus design, we strive to complement the existing architecture with an equivalent level of sophistication and beauty. We propose solutions that include a lightweight structure and skin which protect the spaces and surfaces below and integrate with the campus vision for public space, lighting and landscape. The designs are low maintenance and provide a sustainable approach to water re-use, landscaping, and low-energy lighting.
