Pierre Courthouse and Federal Building

The project intends to:

  • Replace the existing facade system with a new high-performing and innovative facade which improves air/moisture protection and reduces overall energy costs;
  • Improve comfort of work environements;
  • Improve image & first impression of the exterior;
  • Resolve water infiltration issues at the foundation wall;
  • Maintain continuous building operations throughout the construction period while limiting impact to tenants

The design includes a new high-performance curtain wall system which provides increased energy performance, as per the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Performance Guidelines. Compared to the existing stone and glass panels, the new curtain wall glazing represents an overall R-Value increase of 151% (i.e. factor of 2.5X the existing).  This reduces annual energy costs and improves the overall comfort of the tenants. By modifying the overall height and the specification of the glass, tenants receive additional daylight and have more clear and expansive views to the exterior.
