Bok Falls

Edward Bok gave the public a gift when constructing Bok Tower. An icon which marks a landscape arranged for a sole purpose, relaxation. A spa would be the ideal program set in the ideal location.
Having two different types of visitors accessing the site, people visiting the grounds and people in search of spa treatment, two different moments needed to be created.
If accessing the spa, one would just approach the spa directly from the parking lot along a sloped path until turning to find that the relatively heavy looking spa becomes very light and sleek once inside.
On the other hand, if exiting the visitor’s center to explore the site, one is confronted with a view of the spa which is cut down the center, framing the view of Bok Tower. If this site was Edward Bok’s vision, it would only seem appropriate to embrace his memory. That is why on October 9th at exactly p.m., Bok Tower is seen at full shadow as if making a point that upon the day of his birth, the tower was non-existent.
