The Juan Bosco children’s care center in Barrio Obrero, San Juan, Puerto Rico was created to keep children occupied and out of the streets. The existing building was in a state of deterioration. The Salesian nuns who ran the center brought a property in ruined state and our community design studio created proposals for the small site. My proposal was designed to be relatively economic to build and would rely on passive design as a cooling system. Although the site was small, space was provided for playing outside.
