The US Virgin Islands have a long history of sugar
cane plantations and slavery to sustain it. Anna’s Hope is one of many abandoned plantations, slowly falling into decay. The thesis proposed to contain the deterioration and maintain it as a ruin rather than restore it to its former condition. A new building was designed to function as a hurricane museum and shelter for the local population.
