In the Genoa waterfront project Renzo Piano suggests a rehabilitating fresco for the harbor’s former industrial areas today abandoned and points out new uses for this part of the city.
The project studies two important areas of the waterfront. Due to their central position adjacent to the historical center, the aim is to turn them into new residential neighbourhoods on the sea.
From Le Corbusier’s Venice hospital project lesson the project site is transformed into a post-modern suspended city where residences are overhead and create a new horizon. Only the access blocks touch the ground, characterized by public services, commerces, green and water.
