The client asked for a house that was 100% sustainable, during the construction phase as well as the end result. Located on various acres of wooded land in middle Georgia, the house is designed to be built by the client himself, as he desired. The only professional help needed consists of a concrete truck that would pore the foundation slab. Beyond that, the client was responsible for transporting and constructing the materials. The sod roof collects rainwater, which harvests several gardens on site. The house is nestled into a hill to provide natural cooling, and the floor levels are arranged to provide stacked ventilation. Summer and winter screens act as windows. The house does not utilize electricity whatsoever. Instead, solar panels provide energy for all appliances and electronics. Water is provided through a well.
