About

My name is Irene D'Aurelio D'Arpino. I am a motivated and forward-thinking newly qualified architect with two years of experience in all design and construction stages. I have a deep passion for sustainable design, low-impact materials, and design for disassembly. I aim to create buildings that not only integrate with their surroundings but also contribute to the well-being of both the occupants and the environment.

I am experienced in identifying and selecting materials with minimal carbon footprints, such as recycled, reclaimed and locally sourced options. I keep abreast of new technologies to ensure my designs incorporate the latest advances in sustainable building practices.

With a solid foundation in sustainable construction and a commitment to design for disassembly, I am dedicated to shaping a greener, more sustainable future through architecture. Outside work, I am an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoy staying active, particularly through outdoor sports. I thrive in the dynamic environment of construction sites, overseeing the implementation of designs and working closely with contractors and stakeholders.

Employment

Experience across all RIBA stages, with particular expertise in Stages 4 and 5.
I led my own project through all the design stages up until tender (including producing the technical drawings).
My work has primarily focused on the design and development of private residential homes, accessible homes, and public realm buildings. I have successfully collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to refine design details, produce technical drawings, and oversee the construction process, ensuring that all projects meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability.

Education

The University of Sheffield, Sheffield, MArch, MArch (RIBA Part 2)

I completed my master's degree in architecture at the University of Sheffield. My studies were primarily studio-based, with a strong focus on design projects that challenged both creativity and technical expertise. I specialized in sustainable architecture, completing a module on low-impact materials.

During the innovative Live Projects program, I led a team that collaborated with a school diocese to develop a digital toolkit, which successfully helped them secure funding for the sustainable refurbishment of their buildings. Our toolkit demonstrated the long-term value of sustainability to investors. Additionally, I led the student-run group, Students for Climate Action, where I led initiatives promoting sustainability within the architectural education.
