The project involved refurbishing and extending a 1960s bungalow to create a modern five-bedroom, three-bathroom private home. The client initially opted for traditional procurement but ultimately chose to self-build.

As part of my role, I produced detailed drawings for Stages 04 and 05. I was responsible for resolving the building’s elevations, in particular configuring the cladding to align neatly with window and door openings while ensuring proper ventilation gaps behind slats. I was responsible for ensuring compliance with building regulations, including adjusting decking levels as required. I refined the mechanical services plans to ensure compliance with the underfloor heating specifications and mechanical ventilation systems. As a client-led project, site inspections were crucial. It was essential to be able to think quickly and solve problems effectively. For instance, when the finished floor level was incorrectly calculated, I proposed using micro cement to remain within the specified level.

As a team, we collaborated closely with the main contractor, carpenter, and client to identify solutions when construction deviated from the initial plans.
