I am Sheng Li and I graduated from Washington University in Saint Louis this June. Having a solid background both in landscape architecture and architecture, I always carry my passion through design work, seeking for groundbreaking ideas and developing urban stories. I strives to push practices into a comprehensive level, involving architecture, environment, contemporary daily life, urban activity through observing, understanding, and translating of the subtle relationships between them. As you can see from my Portfolio, Whispery Build, I am eager to explore this kind of architecture in the past few years.
Through my five years education in landscape architecture, I improved my design skill through manipulating various scales of urban contexts. I continued with Architecture for Master degree because I am not only interested into the relation between human and environment, but also eager to explore space quality in architectural scale. However, through all architecture studios, I challenge myself to bridge architecture, human, society and environment with a comprehensive design strategy, which helped me to become a mature designer. Studying in Washington University, two of my studio projects had been selected as Studio Approach.
I worked as intern architect in Natural-Build architectural design Cooperate, from Mar,2012 to Jun,2012. I was involved in three projects: Sanyi House (492m2), Laterite Museum(6500m2), Jiading Chinese hospital(79265m2), all were competition projects. During this internship, I led two other interns, being responsible for concept design, model making, graphic drawings and final document deliveries. I carried all three projects through design development by efficient collaboration with team member and hitting deadlines. In the end, Jiading Chinese hospital won the first prize and Laterite Museum is under construction right now. While I was interning at Qingbo studio at China Machinery International Engineering Design & Research Institute in 2011, I was involved in LouDi cultural center(27870m2). During this internship, I participated in Design Development, including facade, material design and construction document, including specification drawings, plans.
I believe my architecture and landscape architecture background prepared me to be a comprehensive designer that is capable for varied scale problem solving. My passion in design keeps me willing to learn and to challenge. I hope to contribute my skills and knowledge to your office.
