The wood clad lining of the shell opens towards the main passageway of the park. The building was situated parallel to the main passageway and so that the terraces receive the most sunlight throughout the day.

Park Café Makia

The basis for the design of the park café was to design a structure fitting naturally in the centre of a park with the park present also in inside. The shape of the building takes the lines of the park lanes and vegetation into account. Large glass surfaces and the terrace fade the border between the interior and outside spaces. This continuity was emphasized with coherent materials through-out.

The interior design of the café aimed to create cosy nooks offering views into the busy street life. The faceted shapes of the building make the interior intriguing and the outward appearance dynamic.
