It is an extension of an early 1900s romantic towered holiday villa adapted to modern use. The concept is based on the juxtaposition of the old building and the dynamically formed new addition.
The concept was to retail the old building’s romantic atmosphere by an authentic restoration and a clearly visible extension. The new parts spread in two main directions with two different characters. While in front of the building a pergola-like dining area was set up, in the other direction a statuesque extension embraces the ancient villa. The former is located next to the sunniest part of the garden surrounded by the vegetation. This is the main meeting point for the family, and with its huge glassed sliding doors it blurs the lines between the indoor and outdoor. The other element uniformly handles the sideward and upward extensions with a unique form, reinterpreting the original shape of the roof in a contemporary manner. The new element with its metal cladding merges wall and roof, giving a new identity to the villa.
