The Marriott International company of Bethesda, Maryland, has been named as the National Building Museum’s Honor Award recipient for 2024. The iconic 97-year-old American chain that currently operates about 8,900 hotels internationally was recognized for its transformative and anchoring hospitality designs that have shaped the urban environments in 141 different countries.
“It’s hard to think of a more deserving recipient for our 37th annual Honor Award than Marriott International,” Aileen Fuchs, the president and executive director of the National Building Museum, said in a statement. “Marriott’s contributions exemplify the power of design and construction to empower communities, spark innovation, promote sustainability, and inspire wonder through the experience of travel.”
The award will be presented in D.C. at the National Building Museum’s annual Gala on Thursday, June 6th.
