It's a new week, and so many exciting architecture and design challenges have been added to our Bustler competition database in recent days.
For this week's curated picks, we have selected four briefs inviting outstanding examples of architectural delineation, innovative ideas for Vancouver's False Creek floodplain, redevelopment concepts for the BIS site in Basel, Switzerland, and design proposals for a sanctuary for homeless girls in rural Iraq.

Sea2City Design Challenge

"The City of Vancouver is launching the Sea2City Design Challenge (Sea2City) to help inform a framework and vision to guide urban development and ecological revitalization in Vancouver’s False Creek floodplain, a highly valued and constrained urban waterway in the heart of the city. The innovative and exciting design challenge will engage two multidisciplinary teams through a competitive application process to work co-operatively with the City of Vancouver to explore adaptation approaches for sea level rise, expand flood management approaches, and increase public awareness of climate change and sea level rise. Sea2City will include a creative and interactive public engagement and communications program that will run from September 2021 to July 2022."
Open Call: BIS Site development
Registration Deadline: Monday, Jul 26, 2021
Submission Deadline: Friday, Aug 6, 2021
"The Bank for International Settlements, situated in the heart of Basel and in the centre of Europe, acts as a regular forum for meetings of its constituency of central bankers, financial regulators and supervisory authorities. Over the last decades, the BIS has extended its presence in Basel as its activities have grown. This expansion has been accommodated over the last decades through the acquisition of premises in close proximity to the Tower. The current facilities are concentrated in two major locations in Basel, the Tower site and the site of the Botta building. With the exception of the Tower building, the buildings on the Tower site are aging and inefficient or cannot be used at all, requiring the Bank to rebuild at some stage. Therefore, to ensure sufficient flexibility to meet demands over the coming decades, the Bank is looking to modernise its current facilities to support new ways of working and bring all its Basel-based staff into one location to foster collaboration."
A Girls Sanctuary in Iraq
Register/Submit Deadline: Saturday, Nov 20, 2021
"Tamayouz Excellence Award invites architects and designers to submit their ideas for a safe and comfortable space for homeless girls that supports their health, educational and psychosocial needs and helps them to achieve their own potential. [...] The sanctuary will be committed to the welfare of children throughout the whole of their childhood as a preventive measure in the fight against abandonment and social ostracism. The sanctuary should aim to restore the balance in life for the abandoned, destitute, and spiritually and physically traumatised children, and help in establishing a new environment where awareness of such issues is spread. It should also inspire NGOs to start taking control and contributing more to the community."
