Srdjan Jovanovic Weiss and Armin Linke: “Socialist Architecture: The Reappearing Act” | September 18

Join Srdjan Jovanovic Weiss and Armin Linke for the launch of their collaborative book, which explores decentralized socialist architecture across Yugoslavia from 2006-2009 and the unintended public spaces that they created. “This book dares the assertion that socialistic architecture is insofar successful to date as it creates public space, even if the system that produced it [has] disappeared.”

Beaux Arts Ball 2017: Alchemy | September 22

Spend Friday night at the Architectural League of New York's 2017 Beaux Arts Ball: Alchemy. Happening at Building 28 in Brooklyn’s Navy Yard, this year's Alchemy theme “celebrates the transformation from one state to another, the quicksilver act of creation.”  Brett H. Schneider and Lizzie Hodges will design UNPACKING, a site-specific installation that will stretch along 400 feet of the building’s interior to create “soft rooms” for attendees.

Architecture Books / Yet to be Written | September 23

This Storefront for Art and Architecture day-long event brings together major figures to reflect on the last 35 years of architecture and book production. “Each speaker will present an architecture book published in the last 35 years that they consider to be fundamental to the understanding of contemporary architecture culture, as well as a ‘book yet to be written.’” Hear from Diana Agrest, Stan Allen, Amale Andraos, Harry Cobb, Peggy Deamer, Elizabeth Diller, Steven Holl, Thom Mayne, Daniel Libeskind, Bernard Tschumi, and more. Don't miss out!
