Anime Architecture: Backgrounds of Japan | Until Sunday
This week is your
last chance to catch the House of Illustration's exhibition on the architecture
behind the most successful anime creations. Over 100 illustrations and technical
drawings will be on show, giving an insight into the work required to form the
backgrounds and the atmosphere for this distinctive style of film.
Walking Tour: Hampstead Garden Suburb | 9 September
Suburban plans and developments have been critiqued, studied, and reworked since their initial iterations. The utopian ideal of these communities, including the Garden City Movement, has created a lot of the suburban landscape we see today. This walk will look at one of the best loved garden suburbs in Hampstead, from its rich history and listed buildings, to its current inhabitants and future plans.
Architecture Tour: White Collar Factory | 11 September
The White Collar Factory, located on Silicon Roundabout, the 'Tech City' centre of London. The walk around the 'visionary' building will be lead by none other that the architect Simon Allford of Allford Hall Monaghan Morris , as he explains the ethos of the building, and how adapting warehouses from the 19th Century for current needs is an effective form of future proofing. The £76m building was completed in 2016, and is a response to a five-year research project for Derwent London, an innovative specialist property regenerator.
