This week's picks for London architecture and design events

Warhol Croydon | Until 30 September

Featuring giant tributes in a street festival, exhibition, and series of events celebrating the the great artist Andy Warhol. Warhol, the 'Pope of Pop', is famous for his iconic portraits and depictions of the everyday. Lectures, walks, exhibitions, and film screenings all form this month long programme of events in the up-and-coming town of Croydon. The post-war 'Concretopia' is about 20 minutes by train from central London, and is the subject of many books and discussions on modern architecture.

Dulwich Picture Gallery Lates: The Female of the Species | 1 September

Dulwich Picture Gallery is running another Friday night, with the focus on the power of 'The Female of the Species'. Life drawing, talks, and workshops are just some of the things on offer at this gallery late, taking inspiration from the story of Judith, which is depicted in the Allori painting currently on display at DPG. 

The Learned Society of Extra Ordinary Objects | until 3 September, 'Art Late' on Friday

This exhibition will be closing on Sunday, so be sure to head down to see the 'extra-ordinary possibilities of everyday objects'. This Friday, if the Dulwich Picture Gallery Late doesn't catch your eye (above), why not head to Somerset House for the free late night opening of this exhibition, fuelled by 'story-telling through design'. 

Installation: Future Dust | 1-30 September

The World Economic Forum has predicted that by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish (by weight) in the worlds seas. London's river is no exception to this sobering statistic, with the scale of plastic litter in the Thames being the subject of many initiatives and projects. To highlight this issue, artist Maria Arceo has been collecting plastic from over 40 Thames beaches, forming a large scale floating artwork which will be illuminated at dusk. 

We Are Now Festival | 1-3 September

This weekend, head to Bethnal Green for immersive sensory performance art experiences, from artists pushing the boundaries of their field. Comedy, music, technology, and dance come together to create an overwhelmingly mesmeric atmosphere which challenge the idea of the digital age.
