The Royal Institute of British Architects has announced the shortlist of the international design competition for Prescot Market Place. Launched in May, the global design contest invited architects to reinvent the town's historic 800-sq meter plaza, which has been its social and economic center for almost 700 years.
Participants were asked to re-integrate the space into the town’s life and promote active use by residents in a way that encouraged and celebrated green infrastructure while also responding to the local area’s history and character.
