Another successful edition of the New London Awards has come to a close. Celebrating the cream of the crop in recently completed projects based throughout London, the annual competition attracts submissions from a high caliber of designers. Starting out with a shortlist of 136 entries, 26 projects were selected as category winners.
Others received specially titled awards. The Holmes Road Studios, a housing community for homeless people by Peter Barber Architects, was honored with the 2016 Overall Winner title. Tony Pidgley, Chairman of Berkeley Group, was distinguished as New Londoner of the Year most notably for his companies that have built around 40,000 homes in London over the last 20 years.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan awarded the Mayor's Prize to Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners for their PLACE/Ladywell residential project, which will provide 24 homes for local families in need. Also, the inaugural People's Choice award went to reForm Architects and Elliott Wood's for their Rotherhithe Bridge design.
