Bloomberg Businessweek discusses the difficulties "star architects" are facing during this economic depression. The article covers the current status of offices such as Libeskind, Gensler, Perkins + Will, HOK, Gehry, Foster, Calatrava & Zaha Hadid. The article mentions that Hadid's office is the only one of the group that is currently thriving, with so much demand that they're charging more than the typical 15% markup.

Is my math wrong, or is HOK averaging $210,000/head in salaries?
Also, interesting that Zaha is still going strong - is it only because she's a woman, or is it her work?
i would say it is in spite of her being Zaha; sometimes difficult, arrogant, moody and often overly busy on other projects.
The image of Frank Gehry designing hats for Lady Gaga on his iPhone is truly the sign of the times. We architects have no shame and will literally do anything for a buck.
since when are gensler and HOK starhitects?
well, knock, you know who they are. and i - out here in the middle - know who they are. and those two are probably more known beyond the architecture mags and architecture culture, having probably made more appearances in fortune, inc, and various trade mags for large corporations. so why not?
