Michael Van Valkenburgh has created a new design for the plaza of the Javits Federal Building in Lower Manhattan. It will replace Martha Schwartz' well-known serpentine benches, which were themselves a replacement for Richard Serra's controversial Tilted Arc. Part of the reason for each change has been a leaky plaza, which is also the roof of an underground garage.

Same same. but different? hard to judge from promotional graphics.
I always liked that Martha Schwartz design, in a pomo art installation way. The new scheme looks pretty dang bland. What city is it in, again?
