Tadao Ando has been commissioned by real-estate development firm Sumaida + Khurana to design an ultra-luxury condominium building in New York. This will be Ando's first building in New York.

"New York-based luxury residential development firm Sumaida + Khurana have closed on a $21,000,000 deal to acquire a site at 152 Elizabeth Street in Nolita and announced plans to develop it into an approximately 32,000-square-foot, iconic, ultra luxury condominium building. The building will feature 8 units and will be located at the corner of Kenmare and Elizabeth Street. Construction is expected to begin later this year and the building will be completed in 2016.
The developers have commissioned world-renowned, Japanese master architect Tadao Ando to design the project, it will be his first residential condominium project in New York. Ando is the only person to have won all four major international architecture prizes: the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the Praemium Imperiale, the Carlsberg Architecture Prize and the Kyoto Prize.
Ando is responsible for a number of the world’s most celebrated buildings including the Chichu Art Museum in Naoshima, Azuma House in Osaka, Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts building in St. Louis, Teatro Armani in Milan and the François Pinault Collection’s Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana in Venice. He has also designed homes for fashion luminaries Tom Ford and Karl Lagerfeld and collaborated with the world’s leading contemporary artists including Ellsworth Kelly, Richard Serra, James Turrell and Damien Hirst.
AIA award-winning architects, Michael Gabellini and Kimberly Sheppard will collaborate on the building’s interiors and serve as the Architect of Record. Gabellini Sheppard Associates is responsible for major landmarks such as Top of the Rock and the upcoming re-inauguration of The Rainbow Room at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. The firm is also known for their retail designs around the world for fashion designers such as Armani, Jil Sander and Ferragamo, among others.
Sumaida + Khurana, founded by Saif Sumaida and Amit Khurana, is a New York-based development firm focused on creating timeless benchmarks in premium real estate through a dedication to master architects, craftspeople and design. Mr. Sumaida has 20 years of construction and real estate development experience in Manhattan. He has built over 1 million square feet of luxury condominium developments, boutique hotels, office buildings, high-end interiors and significant retail properties in Manhattan. Mr. Khurana is a real estate professional with 10 years of experience having focused on the acquisition, management, and development of upwards of 500,000 square feet of commercial and residential property in Bangalore and Delhi, India."

i was excited about the prospect until i read the word 'ultra-luxury'. then i was quickly disappointed. mister ando, don't do it please.
I think "Ultra Luxury" just means that they'll have bidets, doesn't it?
