Yeah the design of the arena is definitely more "zeitgeist" then whatever came out of Frank Gehry, but time will tell that he was right about proposing a mix use hybrid building of arena, residential and commerical, despite all the noise made in bklyn (there was even a park on top of the arena for f%$# sake!) A singular arena will turn this place into a deadzone where it will be very crowded only for a few hours of the week and completely empty other times. That kind of economic activity is very unreliable and damaging to a neighborhood in the long run.

I like it.
That was a brilliant move, for them to sit down for an interview with Curbed:

Sounds like they like it, too. (Even the commenters!)
David Childs, recommended them.. Hmmm??
shop can certainly sex up an ellerbe becket box, no doubt. it's still a dumb box arena in a borough that doesn't need one in an area that has plenty of thriving, diverse adjacent neighborhoods and that could have done just fine before the bulldozing. hey mr. ratner i'll make you a deal: one unit of affordable housing for one arena seat, please? (and hold the ugly mall part this time.)
looks like they made the rendering to make the building appear smaller than what it is. does anyone else see that or just me?
also in rendering, sports arena looks like some kind of a bottle opener from this angle (the hole above the plaza.)
I think that Frank Gehry's rendering was better. But honestly it doe not make sense to have this 18,000 seat luxury shack in NY its selfish and inane. NY has enough professional team as it is while jersey has none but most of the NY teams sports play in NJ. I think that jersey should house its own state sports it has more then enough room to have its own professional teams.
