this is much better than what was visually circulating around previously. a brand new site specific typology. i think it would play a powerful role for islam at this scale. symbolically, it has the potential of re-starting the progressive islamic movement.
i am also fond of the thermal aspects of the proposal. it is also admirable that they are dismantling and reconstructing the ottoman portion in the hills behind.
i still maintain scepticism for the underlying commercial spectacle around the pilgrimage. but obviously the improvements were needed for crowd controls and stampedes that took many lives in the past.
Interesting. The main hall looks horribly overstructured with all the fat members. Seems like the design was scaled-up from a small one...the proportions just seem off...

was this really "leaked"? i remember seeing this video online about a month ago.
