'school' book by catherine burke & ian grosvenor is a thought-provoking read covering modern historical perspectives and some current issues. 'contemporary school architecture in slovenia' is another good reference with the interviews with the architects. personally, i like the diversity in school designs from meditative monastery types to prof. peter hubner's freer forms and spaces. the program is so fascinating that i would almost want a child to move around many schools with different atmosphere, speaking of which, i read an interesting study that the atmosphere i.e. the view with greenery influences the development and performances of girls more than boys who are not affected much by the surface or material qualities of surrounding environments.
