The Norman Foster-designed hotel has been immediately scaled down to 28 stories, from the planned 49 stories. The cause has nothing to do with the economy, as you would likely assume, rather it is due to construction flaws — 15 floors of wrongly installed rebar! LV Sun

Yeah...nothing to do with the economy...right...
ha. yeah, i'm w/ pvb. way to push the contractor and project architects under the bus, though...
no way they let that slide, not w/ foster pulling the strings.
LV's economy is in the gutter, and no one is buying condos, this is why the top half (all condos) is not being finished.
jesus t*tty f*ckin.
as a simple massing, i think i like it better. the squatty proportion doesn't look bad; is kind of intriguing.
I disagree. The original massing was kind of bland but acceptable; the shorter one just looks stumpy. Maybe if that top-level transparent-ey element - roof garden? mechanical screen? - was made taller it would look more interesting.
I thought the article did a pretty good job of presenting a few different views.
I agree that the shorter one looks funny. Due to this economy no one is buying or going anywhere. There are awesome deals at Palazzo Hotel Las Vegas and Paris Hotel Las Vegas.
