Jan Kaplický, leading architect behind Future Systems, has passed away at the age of 71, hours after his wife gave birth to their daughter. ČeskéNoviny.cz
That's very sad ... I hadn't heard that he was in ill health so this seems unexpected. Also, and I mean this in the best possible way, but there's a lesson here about senior citizens not having children....
Its a shocking news and also horrible for a little daughter and whole family to live vith, Birthday and deatha at tge same day. Tha latest news tell that he probably died because his hearth stops working while walking on the street in Prague. Doctor was trying to relive him for about 45 minutes, unfortunatelly it doesnt help. :(
To my ignorance, he is older than I imagined. His work is much more youthful than his age.
Though we had entered the age of more environmentally conservative buildings, I hope his work will survive the test of time despite the sea change.
And the best of luck to his daughter. It's quite a fairy tale indeed when she grew up to understand her father through his buildings, like Khan's son... Oh well. Maybe I'm romantizing this too much.
His family says he died a very happy man. His last days, especially hours after the birth of an eagerly expected baby girl, were full of joy. He was on his way to celebrate this when his heart failed to bear so much emotions. It´s heartbreakingly tragic, of course. However, there is also a positive message in this for his daughter – her father loved her very much.
there is something very joyful in how his architecture pushed barriers in its creativity...these will remain also as beautiful gifts for his little daughter...
