FOA has resigned from the Institute of Legal Medicine in Madrid’s City of Justice due to insufficient levels of funding for the project. (Official statement continued after the jump...)
The new City of Justice in Madrid is an urban development project initiated by the Madrid Regional Government to centralise Madrid’s dispersed law-related institutions in a single site. Alejandro Zaera-Polo, principal of FOA, said: ‘Conflicts arising from the expectation of meeting a certain level of quality architecture without being granted the necessary resources have forced us to withdraw from the project in order to protect our professional profile.’
Owing to the practice’s belief that the level of funding assigned to this project will produce a very low-quality building, FOA also renounces authorship of the project and the practice’s association with either the building or the City of Justice project.

All I know about this case I just read above, based on that I say good for them.
looks like a steel bagel. inspiration from eating breakfast. not madrid's loss at all.
Maybe this and MVRDV's "Green Hills" could hook up (seeing the images together on the archinect news feed suggests they'd sorta formally get along, if you know what I mean)...
"seeing the images together on the archinect news feed suggests they'd sorta formally get along"

< just too good to pass up
that reminds me, somebody borrowed my angel food cake pan and i need to get it back for that architecture competition i may enter.
umm, why don't you guys build a decent building to fit the budget instead of a giant fucking chromed beehive! What the fuck were they thinking! That's easily the stupidest FOA project i've ever seen.
