The new building will double the amount of gallery space at the Museum, which was designed by Louis I. Kahn and is considered to be a milestone of museum architecture. This addition to the Kimbell campus will solve an ongoing problem in that the existing building provides insufficient gallery space to accommodate a major temporary exhibition and a full display of the permanent collection at the same time.
