In an interview with Bloomberg's Farah Nayeri David Chipperfield states that in the economy we're now facing "wow" projects will likely become scarce.
"It's an architecture of excess, a consequence of there being too much money around,'' says the British architect. "At a time when people are worried about other things, those things become really irritating, and probably less relevant. So I think we will see a mood shift -- a certain sensibility coming back.''

i don't think we need to say that architecture blogs will become boring because architects budgets will shrink.
if anything the time for discourse and debate should be now--it's always like that during periods of economic downturns.
maybe blogs are the place where the debates will occur, where unknown speculative projects will get publicized, where the concerns and interests of the next generation of architects will be cultivated.
not all architecture blogs are about the bling bling--look at airoots or moving cities for proof, and not everyone is interested in an architecture of excess. maybe now other things can come to the forefront. i'm kind of tired of looking at starchitect designed luxury condos myself.
o d b, you're totally right. the title was meant as a (bad?) joke in reference to the recent surge of architecture blogs that rely solely on "wow" projects, with little substance to back them up. there are many extremely interesting blogs that address real issues, and there will continue to be so. actually, this change in the economy will likely lead to much smarter blogs.
Update: I changed the original title "Warning: Architecture blogs to become boring or pure fantasy", as it wasn't really communicating the point of the article.
that's cool, didn't mean to come off as hyper-sensitive to the title, and it actually works as a good lead-in to a discussion on architecture blogging and discourse. a provocation that could act as a call to arms if you will (a phrase that i seem to be thinking about a lot recently).
